Make or Break a Habit
Posted in Personal Development, Self Help Tips on 08. Aug, 2011
The word “habit” springs up a lot the time in our lives, bit how many times do we really pay any attention to it’s meaning? It seams so innocent at first but it’s habits that allow us to function!
We all like what’s comfortable. Our bodies and minds have evolved through evolution but one thing remains. Survival! If what we did yesterday was good enough to allow us to be here today then why not do the same.
It’s that habit that gives us the comfort in our lives and a level of certainty.
When a habit is Unwanted
Habits are also one of the biggest life shapers. They will determine if you “like a lie in” or you read in the evening instead of watching TV. Are you a bath or shower person. And the lists go on and on.
How Do I Change A Habit
This is actually a lot more simple than you’d expect. In fact so many people have been so close so many times and fail only because they did not realise how close they were.
A habit is made or broken through a change of output for a sustained period. Thankfully this period is between 21 and 28 days! This means as long as you make a conscious effort for that time you will make / break a habit.
This goes for weight loss, smoking and even some forms of depression.
Do you have a habit you want to make or break? Start today and make a big change in your live. Break the evolutionary cycle that’s keeping you trapped.

I still have this horrible habit of eating chocolate everyday. I need to try going without it for 21-28 days. Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome. Stick with it. Most people give up too soon. Thankfully 3-4 weeks flys by.
